Have a Green Beach Wedding and Contribute to the Enviromental Movement
A green beach wedding is an environmentally responsible way to go. And doing it can be so effortless. Start with your invitations, deforestation is high on the list for the environmental watchdogs, so you will want to search for recycled paper products and try to minimize the use of paper wherever possible. Save the date cards work well if done as e-cards. Set up that website as soon as possible so your guests can be aware of updates to anything going on with your wedding celebration.

Wedding Favors - There are fabulous green favors to choose from and numerous websites where you can find them.Your wedding attire, it is certainly tempting to go out and buy a beautiful new gown for your green beach wedding, and sometimes it may be the only choice, but before you do.....Try keeping it in the family. Vintage is in. See if you can where your mothers gown or another family member- grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin, whatever. Remember - recycle. You can even take the gown and have it slightly re-designed or updated to make it "your own".
Choose bridesmaids style dresses that can be reused for other occasions. Some styles are conducive to shortening for later, less formal use. Your wedding party will appreciate this consideration. There is nothing worse than having a bunch of bridesmaids dresses hanging in your closet that you cannot wear. Even suggest a color and tell them to choose the style that suits them best.Gifts - You should give your guests the option of making a donation to an environmental, cultural or social charity that will make a difference to the planet. There are plenty of reception sites that are already dedicated to green causes which can benefit significantly from your nuptials. Local parks, botanical gardens, historical homes or museums that can add a great backdrop to your big day in addition to all the great beach locations around the world
Flowers/Decorations- Purchase flowers grown in the location of your wedding and support local resources. Seek out pesticide free flowers and the option of organically grown flowers. Use potted trees, and in the case of a beach wedding, it is all about tropical, so palms and ferns are appropriate, flowering hibiscus and these can be given away after the event and offer bridesmaids an alternate to the traditional bouquet - themed clutch bags embellished with shells or straw baskets decorated with ribbons and shells. I love the shells that double as bouquets and are fabulous for green beach weddings.
Food - Eco-friendly food at your reception can go a long way towards supporting a food system that is not ecologically harmful. Hire a responsible "Green" Caterer that uses organically grown vegetables and meats whenever possible and supports local sustainable farming practices. It might increase the price of your reception, but will surely improve the taste of your wedding food and you will definitely be doing your share of saving the environment from harmful chemicals.Clean-up If you want to really be in the spirit of environmental movement, the slogan is "recycle, reduce and reuse" Make sure the people cleaning up are recycling the bottles, the paper and plastic products that are used. If you are using a "green" Caterer, they will automatically be doing this, but if not, ask your caterer to package up any leftover’s, the local Salvation Army will even pick them up. Donate your reception flowers to a local nursing home or hospital.
